The Marine Environment Protection Authority launched Ocean Watch, a web-based mobile application intended to improve reporting and coordination around coastal pollution.
An official announcement on 13 July said users could identify beaches needing cleanup and submit environmental complaints in real time. The platform also included information on locations where canal barriers could prevent land-based waste from reaching the sea.
The application was designed to connect state agencies, local authorities and organisations involved in coastal and port waste management.
MEPA also encouraged businesses and non-governmental organisations to help maintain designated coastal areas through agreed programmes. The initiative combined public reporting with coordination of cleanup activities and longer-term beach conservation.
