The Health Ministry outlined an Rs. 1.95 billion programme involving 11 CT scanners to strengthen diagnostic services at hospitals across Sri Lanka.
A report issued on 21 June said scanners had been installed at Kalutara and Kurunegala teaching hospitals. Four others had been supplied to the national hospitals in Colombo, Kandy and Galle and to Colombo South Teaching Hospital with ADB assistance.
Further purchases were planned for Kuliyapitiya, Dambulla, Nawalapitiya, Chilaw and Mannar hospitals.
The equipment included 64-slice and 128-slice systems intended to improve access to advanced imaging. The announcement distinguished equipment already provided from machines still being procured; it did not indicate that all eleven were operating at the same stage.
