Sri Lanka’s National Export Development Plan was presented to the President on 16 June, setting out a strategy for export-led growth through 2030.
The framework aims for export revenue of US$36 billion by the end of the period. It was developed under the Industry Ministry and Export Development Board, with technical assistance linked to the Asian Development Bank.
Eight priority sectors include digital services, processed food, maritime industries, electronics, automotive components, minerals, rubber products and spices. Supporting work covers logistics, trade finance, standards, market access and innovation.
More than 300 stakeholders contributed to consultations. The revenue figure is a policy target, while delivery depends on implementation, monitoring and improvements to the business environment.
