The Inter Faith Nework for the UK was founded in 1987 to promote good relations between people of different faiths in this country.

Its member organisations include representative bodies from Baha'i, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jain, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, and Zoroastrian communities and other organisations concerned with inter faith issues.
The London Buddhist Vihara, under the leadership of the Late Most Venerable Dr Medagama Vajiragnana was a founder member of the Inter Faith Network.

The Network works with its member bodies to help to make the UK a place marked by mutual understanding and respect between religions where all can practise their faith with integrity. The Network's way of working is firmly based on the principle that dialogue and cooperation can only prosper if they are rooted in respectful relationships which do not blur or undermine the distinctiveness of different religious traditions.

The London Buddhist Vihara held a meeting on 17 November 2012 to mark the commencement of the inter faith week. The event commenced with lighting of the traditional lamps by the representatives followed by chanting by the monks of LBV and Rev Gyoro Nagase of the Battersea Peace Pagoda.
